Seeing the Beauty in the World: A Kongshan Temple Anecdote (Part 12)

This was the Venerables' first official day moving into Kongshan Temple. On the way to the temple, they initially planned to stop at a gas station to inflate their tires. Unexpectedly, right after adding air, one of the tires blew out.

Fortunately, there was a repair shop nearby. A Venerable walked over and asked the owner for help. The owner was incredibly kind; he immediately rushed to the site with a jack and other tools. He then took the tire back, repaired it, and personally reinstalled it for the Venerables, who were deeply grateful.

This brought back memories from over ten years ago when the monastic community first arrived on P Island. The first local resident they got to know was also a car repair shop owner. And that owner was just as kind and provided vigorous assistance.

Ten years ago and ten years later, in different countries and with different owners, one thing remains unchanged: the genuine kindness of people caring for and looking out for one another.

May this beautiful scene, as described by our Teacher in Si He Ji (Lotus Collection), My Prayer, continue to be: "The waves of the great sea, transmit, transmit the beautiful stories of the human world!"—to every corner of the globe.
