Perhaps the most enchanting feature of Kongshan Temple is the great lake! This 7-acre lake is situated on the southern side of the entire property, and circling it completely is no easy feat, usually taking half an hour to an hour!

The lake was originally only half its size: half was naturally formed, and the other half was later excavated by the previous owner. When viewed from above, it perfectly forms the pattern of a Conch Shell, which carries the auspicious significance of the Great Dharma flourishing.

What a mesmerizing sight! The lake water is crystal clear like a mirror, glistening with light. One can directly glimpse the lake bottom and the many small lives leisurely swimming within—fish, turtles, otters, and white swans... They seem to form a harmonious, self-contained family. The Venerables particularly enjoy circumambulating and meditating here, feeling that the scenery and atmosphere are exceptionally mind-gathering, helping them to recollect the words of the scriptures and apply them to cultivating the mind.

A well-maintained, detached log cabin sits by the lake. Looking out the window offers a view of the entire lake and mountain scenery—it is extremely tranquil. This cabin will serve as the residence for the Guru and Teacher to rest.

The lineage teachings are like an endless river, flowing steadily down from the mountain peak to irrigate the fields of our minds. May the goodness within our hearts grow limitlessly like a summer river, and may this magnificent lake become a beautiful paradise for accomplishing the liberation of sentient beings.
